Does apple cider vinegar help acid reflux?

Depends on the person

Apple cider vinegar is a popular home remedy, but there is no good evidence that it helps reflux. It is acidic and may make symptoms worse, especially if the oesophagus is inflamed.

Tips

  • If you try it, dilute it well and stop if symptoms get worse.

Reactions vary a lot between people. Log apple cider vinegar in the symptom diary for two weeks: it shows how often each food is followed by symptoms. Then try two weeks without it and compare.
